AWWA is an Organization which is committed towards welfare of families and the Next of Kin of the Soldiers. A series of programmes are being held to celebrate AWWA Day. On 22 Aug, a programme was held by the Tiger Division , to adopt Veer Naris. Adoption of Veer Naris is carried out by Civil Society with an aim to recognize the sacrifices of the soldiers, who gave their life in the line of duty. National Corruption Control & Human Welfare Organization (NCCHWO) is Organisation, which has taken the initiative of Adopting Veer Naris,under Project NAMAN, in order to provide psychological support to the War Widows and to guide their children.. In Dec 2023, the citizens of Jammu adopted 22 Veer Naris at Miran Sahib, with active participation of the Tiger Division, NCCHWO and NGOs like Inner Wheel Club Jammu Tawi and Aditi Foundation. Similarly, 10 Veer Naris were adopted at Srinagar in Sep 2024.
The programme was started with recitation of a Patriotic Song by Mrs Suresh Bala, a member of NCCHWO,which left the audience spellbound. Thereafter, Brig Harcharan Singh, National Administrator of NCCHWO, apprised the audience about the concept of Project NAMAN, and the need to provide psychological support to the families of Veer Naris. NCCHWO has got volunteer services of a renowned Psychologist, Dr Arti Bakshi, to help out specific cases.As part of motivation drive, Mrs Ruby Bano, a Veer Nari from Kashmir gave out the story of sacrifice of her husband,Nk Mukhtiar Malik. She explained how she overcame the trauma and started to help out the other Veer Naris. Awarded with AWWA Award, she is the voice of Veer Naris and is known for her compassion,motivational skills and resilience.She has recently been selected by Govt to help progress legal cases of other Veer Naris,with help of Sainik Welfare Deptt DLSA.
In a simple ceremony, Veer Naris were adopted by Dr Arti Bakshi, Dr SB Bakshi, Mrs Anju Khajuria,Mr Rajesh Khajuria, Dr Ritesh Gupta, Dr Neetu Gupta,Mrs Priya Jain and Mr Naveen Jain. The Veer Naris were honored by the Chairperson, Family Welfare Organization, Tiger Division. Ladies who adopted Veer Naris and Suresh Bala were presented Appreciation Certificates for participation in a noble project. Mrs Paramjit was presented with Appreciation Certificate by AWWA Tiger Division, for motivating citizens to participate in Project NAMAN. Brig Harcharan Singh was honored for his involvement in projects related to welfare of soldiers and their families. Brig Harcharan Singh expressed gratitude towards initiative taken by GOC Tiger Division and Chairperson AWWA for a programme, which aims to provide psychological support to Veer Naris and also, the Citizens feel honored to interact with them on a regular basis. A copy of Information Brochure on Welfare Schemes, compiled by Sainik Welfare Deptt J&K was also distributed to the Veer Naris, to enhance their knowledge level.
