In 1999 , Pakistani Army made intrusions in Kargil Sector of J&K, with an aim to cut off our Line of communication. It goes to the credit of Indian Army that the area was cleared of all Pakistani intruders, after 527 Indian Soldiers laid down their life.To pay tributes to the sacrifices made by Maj Ajay Singh Jasrotia, Sena Medal, a programme was held by the citizens and NGOs at Sainik Colony Jammu.Maj Ajay Singh Jasrotia laid down his life on 15 June1999, at Drass Sector, facing heavy enemy shelling and hostile fire. The programme at Jammu was attended by members of civil Society and ESM, who paid floral tributes to the Hero of Drass Sector, who lead his troops in an exemplary manner, till he attained martyrdom.
NCCHWO National Administrator, Brig Harcharan Singh offered Floral tributes to the fallen Soldier. The mother of Maj Ajay Singh Jasrotia , Mrs Veena Jasrotia ,was present on the occasion along with her family members. Brig Harcharan Singh felicitated the Veer Mata and interacted with her family members. NCCHWO is proud to consider themselves as an extended family of the Soldiers, who sacrificed their life in the Line of Duty. Under Project NAMAN, an initiative has been started by NCCHWO, where, families of Veer Naris are adopted to provide Psychological support to them and to guide their children in studies/ professional Career.
The programme concluded with the recital of National Anthem .
