It is said that '' A generation which ignores history has no Past and no Future''. It is important to remember the sacrifices made by our ancestors in the service of the Nation. Lions Club of Bangalore JP Nagar conducted one special programme to remember the sacrifices made by Soldiers during Operation Vijay at Kargil. The programme was organized by the Presedent of Lion Club Dr Praveen Ranka. Mr Sharath Kumar graced the occassion as Chief Guest.
Rich tributes were paid to sacrifices made by the 527 soldiers , who laid down their life, while evicting Pakistani intruders from Kargil Sector. Finally, on 26 July 1999 the area was liberated from illegal intrusion of Pak Army.
To express gratitude to Indian Army, Dr Vasantha was honored by the Lions Club. He has served in Indian Army and was trained as NSG Commando also. Presently, he is National Coordinator of Civil Defense Cell & State Head of NCCHWO, Karnataka.
The noble gesture exhibited by Lions Club JP Nagar was appreciated by Central Leadership of NCCHWO. Our young generation must know about our glorious past and role played by our Armed Forces in Nation Building. After all, Histories donot make Men, Men make history. Lion Club was appreciated for their efforts to remember soldiers on Vijay Diwas.
