Articles 14 to 18 of Constitution form the basic foundation for a just and equitable society in India. Age old practices are deep rooted in our society ,wherein, based on Caste/Creed, new ideology may not be easily acceptable. It is the duty of Citizens to come forward to safeguard the spirit of Equality, which also breeds love, affection and brotherhood.
NCCHWO has taken upon itself to promote
the spirit of brotherhood .The NGO acts like a Watchdog to promote the values enshrined in the Constitution. A case was brought to the notice, where a couple belonging to two different castes, wanted to get married, with mutul consent. The parents of the Girl followed Orthodox thinking and detached themselves from the Marriage Ceremony. There was requirement for a volunteer to perform the rites connected with the Marriage procedure, including Kanyadaan. After a consultation within NCCHWO, it was decided to support the Girl and conduct Kanyadaan during the marriage ceremony. The decision was highly appreciated, as it is a step towards revolution to break age old shackles of Casteism. The marriage was conducted (Location and Names withheld) and Kanyadan performed by NCCHWO Members in presence of members from the Society.
Article 15 prohibits discrimination on various grounds. NCCHWO would educate public and stand firm to eradicate all such discriminatory practices, prevailing in the society. After all, United Society is the key to a strong Nation. The initiative of NCCHWO has set an example for others to emulate. With change of thought process and education ,the old discrematory social practices would slowly, but definately disappear ,with passage of time.We endorse the dreams of Rabindranath Tagore in his Poem '' Where the Mind is Without Fear '' Quote *Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake*
