Shopkeepers from Manoharpur Railway Station, Jharkhand, reported to Basant Mehto (NCCHWO State Director,Youth Wing, Jharkhand) on illegal extortion being made by Police personals. A plan was made by the team of NCCHWO to collect evidence of the extortion. Accordingly, through a Sting operation on 12 and 13 April 2024, videography was done, when GRP persons from Manoharpur outpost were collecting money from Vegetable Vendors, near Railway Station. Thereafter, on 13 April, the team of NCCHWO nabbed two Police persons( GRP Havildar Vimlesh Kumar and Pramod Singh ), who were involved in illegal extortion from vegetable vendors. Both culprits were handed over to Police Post Incharge at Manoharpur Railway Station, along with evidences. The Police Post Incharge assured of appropriate action against both the culprits.
The NCCHWO Team, lead by Basant Mehto was invited by DySP Railway, Chakradharpur to his office. Mr. Manish Kumar ( DySP Rail, Chakradharpur) appreciated efforts of NCCHWO team in nabbing the culprits and for bringing the case of illegal extortion to the notice of the police authorities. He further said that in addition to the efforts made by the Police, Citizens and NGOs should also join hands to fight the evil of corruption. All citizens should act as ears and eyes of law enforcement authorities.
