Independence Day Celebrations were planned by NCCHWO over a period of one week. Houses of Veer Naris were visited on 14 August at Sainik Colony, to pay them respect and to express gratitude for their services and sacrifices. On 18 August, a tree Plantation drive was undertaken by NGOs at Maj Ajay Jasrotia Park, Sainik Colony, coordinated by Brig Harcharan Singh, National Administrator NCCHWO. The plantation was attended by Veer Mata Veena Jasrotia, Veer Nari Savitri Devi and Veer Nari Tavinder Kour. Col Virender Kumar Sahi, VrC, a War Injured and Decorated Soldiers was the special invitee.
The programme started with a prayer for all the Soldiers, who Gave Their Today for Our Tomarrow. Flowers were offered at the Statue of Maj Ajay Singh Jasrotia, SM, a braveheart of Kargil War. Tree Plantation was carried out at Maj Ajay Jasrotia Park by Veer Mata, Veer Naris, Soldiers and members of their families, NCCHWO, IWC Jammu Tawi and Rotary Elite. Brig Harcharan Singh said that trees symbolize the qualities of Soldiers,ie, Sacrifice, Dedicated Service , Positivity and providing a Safe environment.The park vibrated with slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
The team moved to Kiyari, The Garden Centre, Sainik Colony, to felicitate hero of 1971 War, Col Virender Kumar Sahi, VrC. The audience was spell bound listening to his War experience. The Veer Naris shared stories of the valour of their brave husbands, who came back wrapped in Tricolour , making the Country proud with their sacrifices.
It was felt that Parks named after our bravehearts should be kept neat and clean by JMC , as they are a symbol of our pride and Patriotism.All present were thanked by Ms Paramjit Kour (National President Women Empowerment Cell, NCCHWO)for participating in an event where citizens not only planted trees but interected with Soldiers/Veer Mata/Veer Naris . Later, a delegate of Brig Harcharan Singh and Sh Giat Nandan Jain visited Capt Bana Singh, PVC at his village Arjun Kotli . He was felicitated on behalf of NCCHWO and SS Jain Sabha , Talab Tiloo.
Rotary Club Elite was represented by President Devinder Kour and other members. From NCCHWO, Sh Giat Nandan Jain, Sr President, Ms Gurvinder Kour, Sonia and Suresh Bala were also present.
National Chief Secretary Ranjeet Verma appreciated the cause of National Administrator Brig. Harcharan Singh & team and announce to issue *APPRECIATION CERTIFICATE*. National Chairman Deepak Sharma and President Rekha Bhooshan also appreciate the cause done by Brig Sahab and team.
